Caring for the Poor & Sick, Providing Physical, Emotional and Espiritual Health

The body as a whole is Body, Mind and Spirit. The Body, Mind and Spirit have health needs. For some it may be giving them shoes, adequate clothing, and blankets to sleep on.
For others it is a warm meal to nourish them. Or helping them fix their roof before rainy season.
When and where possible, we help people navigate the current health system in El Salvador so their medical and surgical needs can be assessed and met.

We listen to their troubles
and encourage them in ways to have the best possible mental health through prayer, reading of the scriptures and meeting with other believers in Christ who can encourage them.

We introduce them to Jesus Christ who can restore their relationship with God the Father, who can provide them with Spiritual health.

“Come unto me…and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Mathew 28: 19-20

Caring for Orphans and Widows

Other ways we demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ is to care for the orphans and widows providing them with toys, school supplies, bedding, clothing, shoes and food. In particular, widows and single moms need help with maintenance around their homes or hauling large items for their homes. Others want us to play with their children and engage with their youth. They are most appreciative when provided “school photos”, something that they cannot provide for their children.

Evangelism

Hannah’s Hands purpose is to share the Good News of the Gospel – the message of salvation through Jesus Christ alone based on Christ’s instructions to his disciples to spread his teachings to all nations.

We do this through various means, such as preaching, teaching, personal conversations, distributing Gospel Tracts, drama, community outreach events and activities to reach those who do not know Christ as their personal Savior.

Health Education

Christ exemplified the greatest compassion ever, healing the sick and feeding those who were hungry. We know that providing health education and hand hygiene classes, we are providing the children and adults with the ability to decrease many illnesses that come from poor dental, hand and personal hygiene.

We also provid health education such as nutrition, proper eating, balanced exercise and good body mechanics, when applied to their lives, people can be instrumental in maintaining good health.

Home Visits

During Home Visits we care for basic needs such as providing food, for some clean water, demonstrating wound care, delivering medical supplies and on ocassion providing emergency transportation to the hospitals. We encourage people to maintain control over their health as much as possible. However, to do so, they must actively participate in their health care.

Outreaches

We hold Outreaches in rural and small communities sharing the Gospel of Salvation through Jesus Christ. We use dramas, skits, teach the Wordless Book and us the Gospel Hand to share God’s plan of Salvation for all persons who are willing to receive His gift of Salvation.
“For the wages of Sin is Death; but the Gift of God is Eternal Life”. Romans 6:23.
For those who want to be followers of Christ Jesus we give them a Bible so that they can read have “spiritual food”.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is near and dear to Lorraine. When her mother received Christ as her Savior she stated reading to Loraine and her sister when they were toddlers. At the age of five, Lorraine made a public profession of her faith at Bethel Church, a small country church in Pennsylvania during Vacation Bible School when traveling missionaries held VBS at the church.

Today in El Salvador, Lorraine and the team, believe that VBS is an important part of sharing the Gospel of Christ. Most of the VBS are held in small villages or communities that do not have established Gospel-preaching churches. For many children, it is their first exposure to the Gospel of Salvation through Faith, a gift of God. VBS involves Bible lessons, teaching the children Bible verses, crafts, and games. Often mothers come with their small children and actively participate in the classes and enjoy the crafts as much as the children do.

From one particular VBS in 2023, we ministered in the village of Esmeralda for ten years holding multiple weekly children’s and women’s Bible classes that were birthed from the VBS in 2013.
